Design around the clinical question
Early clinical programs need material that supports safety and exploratory dosing, not an assumed commercial demand forecast. Batch sizing should start with dose, enrollment, expected yield, stability and retained samples.
Single-use is an option, not a shortcut
Single-use equipment can reduce some cleaning and changeover activities. Compatibility, extractables and leachables, integrity, supplier controls and process performance still require risk-based assessment.
Preserve the path to scale
Document process parameters, analytical methods, material attributes and manufacturing history from the start. A consistent knowledge package supports later comparability and technology transfer.
